Walking included

stats of the week: run 13 km, zwift cycled 34 km, walked 40 km, gym 1 h

Luckily the back pain disappeared suddenly and I am back to regular workouts. I extended my excel training logbook by a column for walking distance.

February was a setback regarding my running but including the walked distance I count 150 km what is not too bad for a month with 2 weeks of injury.

Patience in demand

stats of the week: walked 41 km

Nothing else than walking outdoor and on Zwift was possible while I am still suffering from the lumbago that happened to me nearly two weeks ago. It's improving now very slowly and I hope to get back to any kind of sports during the next week. This will be necessary as Lanzarote is waiting for me in two weeks and the bikes are booked.

Painful setback

stats of the week: run 22 km, zwift cycled 60 km, tm walked 8 km, gym 1 h

On Thursday morning I experienced an unexpected setback when one of my spinal discs suddenly hurted. I reckon the reason was a heavy short sprint on the indoor bike the evening before where I tried to exceed 400 Watt for a few seconds. However, I tried to ignore it and took part in the Sunday 5K race but only as a pacemaker for C. I didn't worry as there were numerous too fast competitors and no chance for me to win the much sought-after cup. Unfortunately C failed to get her cup by 6 seconds.

My back didn't like this action. The consequence is that I have to stick to walking for probably one week.

More Intervals

stats of the week: run 31 km, zwift cycled 55 km, tm walked 6 km, gym 2 h

I ran my 600m intervals outdoor this week and was disappointed at first as I had to struggle to finish 6 stretches. I even had to walk in between. Later at home I saw that the pace was 5:00 min/km and I found this quite okay.

I have not yet decided what race distance to run next Sunday. However, there is no chance to win the runners' Oskar at Bertlich after 41 attempts in vain. At all of  the shorter races up to 10 km faster competitors have already signed in.

With the help of short treadmill workouts I was able to fulfil my weekly running goal of 30 km. Zwift helps to motivate me. The distance measured by Garmin is not exactly right but I don't mind.
